Rayford’s famous cookie shop cuts the ribbon
VALDOSTA – The Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for Shanmarella Rayford, owner of the famous Rayford cookie store, for its grand opening.
Rayford’s Famous Cookie Shop is a family-owned store located on North Ashley Street.
Rayford’s love for cookies began when he watched his stepfather bake them over the years, chamber officials said in a statement.
After noticing his daughters’ interest, he taught her the recipes and they cooked together.
âI loved seeing people’s faces when they ate his cookies. I wanted to be part of the magic and add my own touch, âsaid Rayford.
They started making little cookie bags for school. The school cookies eventually led to a bigger fan base and they got bigger.
Rayford said: âI love my business because I meet new people every day. It is a privilege to sell people goodies that make them smile.
She prides herself on excellent cookie presentations, beating sales targets and making every customer happy.
“Because County Lowndes did not have a fresh cookie store, Rayford decided to locate its store in Valdosta to provide residents with fresh cookies and ice cream,” chamber officials said.
Rayford’s Famous Cookie Shop wants its customers to feel like part of the family. Rayford lovingly bakes each cookie from scratch, and guests can grab a glass of milk, sit back and comfortably enjoy their treats, chamber representatives said.
âThe Chamber of Commerce helped us access all the information we needed to start this business. They provided great marketing and networking tools that helped market our business, âsaid Rayford.
The inauguration ceremony of Rayford’s Famous Cookie Shop drew a large turnout and Rayford offered bags of cookies to each guest.
