Sheets says a wide variety of careers are available in the manufacturing and mining industry.

“Our employers here are looking for all types of skill levels and specialties, from electricians and production staff to equipment operators and technicians in a number of capacities,” Sheets said. “This hiring event is the perfect opportunity to explore your career options, whether you are a beginner or a more experienced worker. “

The following employers, located throughout Southeast Missouri, are expected to attend: 5H Manufacturing & Design; Botkin wood; Cape America; Delta Companies Inc .; The Doe Run Co.; Demolition work; Effex @ TG Missouri; Eric Scott leathers; Good tools of the earth; Holcim; MetalTek; Missouri cobalt; Mondi; Primary staffing; Think Drilling Brothers; Piva windows; Premier Glass; Purcell Tire & Rubber Co .; TG Missouri; and US Tool Group.

For those looking to enhance their resume with a short-term training program, information about Mineral Area College’s No-Cost Welding and CNC Operator Pre-Apprenticeship Programs will also be available. These short term programs are designed to help individuals acquire the minimum skills and abilities to apply for Registered Apprentice Welding positions with Lee Mechanical or CNC Operator with Bulk Tank.

College representatives will be on hand to share more information about these programs and to begin the registration process. These workforce programs were funded by the MoAMP grant from the United States Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration. Companies interested in learning opportunities should contact Michele Shore, Director of Workforce Development, at 573-518-2234. In most cases, program development and training costs can be covered by the grant.
